Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Program (RN-BSN)
If you are an actively licensed RN or are currently in an AAS / ADN program and want to further your career, the Bachelor in Science in Nursing Completion Program (RN-BSN) may be right for you. Our BSN program is online, so you can make your education fit into your schedule.
Getting your BSN will help you to build on your nursing skills, increase your perspective of current clinical practice beyond the AAS / ADN / diploma level, enhance your leadership abilities, and help you advance in your career.
*If you apply to the Nursing AAS program, you will be able to dual enroll in the RN-BSN Program here at ACC and start your BSN coursework with online classes.
RN-BSN Admission / Application Process
The RN-BSN Completion Program (a total of 120 credit hours) offers a flexible 48.5-hour credit program designed for current nursing students who are enrolled in the Nursing AAS program or registered nurses who wish to earn a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree.
Steps to Apply
- If you have an active RN license (from the United States):
- Complete the ACC application for admission by selecting "Health" as your Area of Interest and "Nursing: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Completion Program)" as your degree choice when you apply to ACC.
- Have and upload your active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the supplemental items section of the application.
Application Deadlines
FALL Semester:
- Application must be completed by June 30 at noon.
SPRING Semester:
- Application must be completed by October 15 at noon.
SUMMER Semester:
- Application must be completed by April 1 at noon.
Post-Acceptance Requirements
After you are accepted into the RN-BSN Completion Program, you will be required to provide additional items during the program, including:
- Official college transcript(s) - before beginning the program
- Immunization records - required prior to clinical coursework
- and drug screen - required prior to clinical coursework

General Education Requirements
- ENG 1022* | English Composition II: CO2 | 3 credits
- MAT 1260* | Introduction to Statistics: MA1 | 3 credits
- GT-HI1 | History Course | 3 credits
- GT-AH1, 2 or 3 | Arts and Humanities Courses | 6 credits
- GT-SS1, 2 or 3 | Social and Behavioral Sciences Course | 3 credits
Total of 18 credits
*MAT 1260 and ENG 1022 must be taken prior to NUR 3003 Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing and with a passing grade of C or better.
Upper Division BSN Course Requirements
- NUR 3001 | Integration into Baccalaureate Nursing Practice | 3 credits
- NUR 3002 | Trends in Nursing Practice | 3 credits
- NUR 3003* | Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice in Nursing | 3 credits
- NUR 4008 | Legal and Ethical Issues | 3 credits
- NUR 4009** | Leadership in the Nursing Profession | 3.5 credits
- NUR 4010** | Community Health Nursing and Practicum | 6 credits

**Student must have completed their ADN/AAS degree and have an RN license before starting NUR 4009 Leadership in Nursing Profession, NUR 4010 Community Health Nursing and Practicum, and NUR 4011 Senior Seminar.
Upper Division BSN Elective Requirements
- NUR 3004 | Information and Healthcare Technology | 3 credits
- NUR 3005 | Emergency Preparedness | 3 credits
- NUR 3006 | Gerontology | 3 credits
- NUR 3007 | Behavioral Health | 3 credits
Total of 6 elective credits
Completion of 3000 level upper division courses is preferred prior to starting 4000 level courses. Not all courses are available each semester therefore BSN Coordinator will advise and create an individualized plan for student progression.
RN - BSN End of Program Student Learning Outcomes

- Communication - Evaluate communication and collaboration with colleagues, inter-professional groups and members of the community to promote health, safety and well-being across the lifespan and across the continuum of healthcare environments.
- Leadership - Evaluate the contribution of leadership, quality improvement principles, and the impact of organizational systems in transforming, managing, and coordinating safe, quality, and cost-effective, person-centered care.
- Critical thinking / clinical reasoning - Integrate a systematic process of critical inquiry with nursing science, natural and behavioral sciences, arts and humanities to make evidence-based practice decisions to improve the care of individuals, families, populations, and communities.
RN-BSN Program Completion Outcomes
- RN-BSN full-time: At least 80% of the students entering the program as an RN will complete the nursing program within 4 semesters of program entry date.
- RN-BSN part-time: At least 80% of the students entering the program as an RN will complete the nursing program within 6 semesters of program entry date.
- RN-BSN dual enrollment: At least 80% of the dual enrolled students enrolled in the RN-BSN will complete the nursing program within 9 semesters of program entry date.
- 100% of graduates who return the graduate survey are employed an an RN within 9-12 months of RN-BSN graduation.
- At least 90% of RN to BSN graduates will identify value added (promotion, job maintenance, or entry into advanced degree program) with BSN degree completion on annual alumni survey.
