What You'll Learn

With your AS in Biology you'll be able to:

  • formulate testable hypotheses, design controlled experiments and justify your experimental approach by explaining how it applies the steps of the scientific method.
  • locate and interpret primary scientific literature, analyze and evaluate research findings, synthesize information across multiple sources, and apply APA citation standards to accurately integrate references in your own academic writing.
  • integrate foundational biological concepts to explain patterns and processes in living systems. You will demonstrate understanding of Mendelian genetics, gene expression, and evolutionary mechanisms, and critically analyze the relationship between biological structure and function across cellular, molecular, and system levels.
  • explain laboratory safety protocols, demonstrate correct use of laboratory equipment, and perform experimental procedures accurately following standard techniques.
